Course Description

Exposure-based therapy, such as exposure and response prevention, is a well-established treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety disorders. This intermediate-level course will examine the common barriers to successfully delivery and completion of exposure therapy and provide strategies to overcome these challenges. The presenters will begin by discussing common treatment barriers and factors that can detract from the effectiveness of exposure therapy, including OCD symptom-specific barriers, ERP application barriers and client-specific barriers. Strategies aimed at addressing potential barriers and reducing their impact on delivery of exposure therapy and treatment outcomes will also be described.

It is highly suggested that participants in this course have a foundational knowledge of exposure-based therapy principles. Case examples and applications will aid clinicians in developing their understanding and skills.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe 2 factors that can impact the outcome of exposure therapy for OCD.
  2. Identify 2 strategies that can be used by a clinician to address potential treatment barriers to delivering effective exposure therapy.

Live, interactive webinar

Participants will be able to ask questions and interact with the presenters
