Perfectionism is highly prevalent in obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and has been shown to impede treatment outcomes. This course will prepare clinicians to recognize perfectionism in their clients and describe its potential impact on treatment for OCD. Engaging case studies will be included to demonstrate how evidence-based strategies can be applied to perfectionism, particularly in the treatment of OCD.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1) Describe the clinical features of perfectionism and discuss how perfectionism may influence the presentation and treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
2) Apply evidence-based treatment strategies for perfectionism and OCD.

PRESENTER
Taylor Newendorp, MA, LCPC
Taylor Newendorp, MA, LCPC, is a licensed clinical professional counselor in Illinois and a Regional Clinical Director for NOCD. In this role, Mr. Newendorp uses his expertise in OCD and related disorders to direct the midwest region of multidisciplinary therapists in their delivery of high-quality, evidence-based treatments.
Mr. Newendorp earned his MA in marital and family therapy at the University of San Diego. He is the president and founder of Chicago Counseling Center, Inc. He is a former clinical supervisor and therapist for AMITA’s Center for Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders where he oversaw all aspects of the evening intensive outpatient program and led cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure therapy groups for OCD and related anxiety disorders. Before transitioning to the OCD program, he was a co-coordinator and therapist for AMITA’s binge-eating program.
Mentoring and training has been a large part of Mr. Newendorp’s career. He currently runs several consultation groups at NOCD, has provided talks on perfectionism at national conferences, and is involved in developing treatment protocols for OCD and conducting related research. Mr. Newendorp is the author of The Perfectionism Workbook: Proven Strategies to End Procrastination, Accept Yourself, and Achieve Your Goals, a workbook that incorporates cognitive-behavioral strategies to address perfectionism.

State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. NOCD maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 03/25/2022 – 03/25/2023. Social workers completing this course receive 2 continuing education credits.
PSYCHOLOGISTS
NOCD is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. NOCD maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
COUNSELORS
NOCD has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7212. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. NOCD is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
