Course Description

Clinicians often report difficulty with navigating the differences and similarities between OCD and GAD when it comes to diagnostic decision-making and treatment planning. This intermediate-level course will provide clinicians with information that will assist them in their clinical decision-making. The course will begin with an in-depth discussion about the diagnostic criteria and characteristics of both OCD and GAD (e.g., common themes and subtypes, epidemiology, common behaviors, thoughts and beliefs). The presenters will then cover the topic of comorbidity and differential diagnosis, which includes assessment resources. The CBT conceptual model for both OCD and GAD will be presented along with treatment considerations for comorbid cases. The presentation will include case examples and responses to frequently asked questions about differential diagnosis and treatment planning. This course will focus on the adult population.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

      1. Identify the key differences between OCD and GAD.

     2. Apply cognitive-behavioral techniques to treat comorbid OCD and GAD.

TESTIMONIALS

The presentation was absolutely fantastic - super useful, super clear, very informative, and engaging. I appreciate all the details that were provided on the topic, the distinctions between GAD and OCD (that we weren't taught as much), and useful tips. Please continue to provide this training to others because it is great!!"

I was beyond impressed with this presentation. I thought I already knew a lot about these two disorders, but I learned quite a lot more than I even expected. The examples were really helpful.”

Another amazing training from you all at NOCD!! I am so amazed these are free for how high quality they are. Them being free also helps many clinicians like myself working in community mental health who cannot always afford expensive trainings. Keep up the great work!"
