Course Description

Family members, loved ones, and friends may unknowingly contribute to the maintenance or worsening of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) through accommodation behaviors (often referred to as “family accommodation”) by directly participating in a ritual or compulsion or aiding in avoidance of triggers for OCD.  This course will prepare clinicians to recognize, assess, and develop a treatment plan to reduce family accommodation as part of treatment for OCD.  Illustrative pediatric and adult OCD case examples are included throughout the course to demonstrate the role of accommodation across the lifespan, as well as how to engage various parties (responsible adults, family members, significant others, support persons, children, siblings).

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe how accommodation behaviors contribute to the maintenance of OCD.
  2. Prepare an accommodation reduction plan that can be used in the treatment of OCD.

Live, interactive webinar

Participants will be able to ask questions and interact with the presenter.
