Course Description

Though relatively common, symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) can go unrecognized, undiagnosed, and untreated. This introductory-level course will prepare participants to recognize the key features of GAD, compare and contrast GAD to other disorders, and utilize GAD-specific assessment tools to aid in accurate assessment and symptom tracking. The presenter will describe the cognitive-behavioral model of GAD and then guide participants through treatment with an emphasis on the use of behavioral interventions. Special topics include rumination, intolerance of uncertainty, the role of safety behaviors, and how to create an exposure hierarchy. Illustrative case examples will be used throughout to demonstrate concept and application.

RECOGNIZING AND TREATING GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER
TESTIMONIALS

This training has been my favorite training that I have attended with NOCD. Very valuable and helpful information provided as well as feeling very validated leaving the training hearing from peers that they sometimes struggle differentiating OCD vs GAD as I have had that come up in my practice recently. Awesome training!”

Really great material. I love how Dr. Nunez took time to review the differences about other anxiety disorder vs GAD to help us focus on what GAD is and how to be attentive of its system, to assess and treat. Something new I learned good amount about the exposures, I knew of "exposure therapy" but today I learned a little more in depth of what it involves actually is. Thank you Dr. Nunez for sharing your knowledge and hopefully I get to use these tools with clients and myself!”

I enjoyed that the presenter posed a question at the beginning of the presentation and then posed the same question at the end of the the presentation so that we could assure ourselves that we learned the material that the presentation was meant to deliver.”
