Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for OCD with Rachel Steen, LPC

Course Description

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a transdiagnostic cognitive behavioral therapy that helps people learn how to willingly face their unwanted internal experiences in the service of taking meaningful action. ACT is helpful for people struggling with diverse issues, including chronic pain, depression, anxiety, OCD, psychosis, and substance abuse.

In this online, 2-hour workshop therapists will explore how the psychological flexibility model articulated in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can be used to treat Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. ACT is evidence-based to treat OCD on its own but can also be used alongside Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the most evidenced-based treatment for OCD. This presentation will explore ACT’s unique conceptualization of the obsessive compulsive cycle and will delve into ACT exercises that can help clients who are stuck in avoidance and control behaviors.
