Course Description

This course will prepare clinicians to recognize symptoms of pediatric obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and prepare an assessment strategy specific to this population. Illustrative case examples will be used to describe the essential diagnostic criteria for OCD and the use of specifiers for children and adolescents. The presenter will also discuss contemporary research findings related to the conceptualization and clinical presentation of pediatric OCD. We’ll conclude with a discussion on clinical interviewing and evidence-based assessment tools specific to pediatric OCD.  

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. List the essential diagnostic criteria for childhood OCD and discuss contemporary research findings related to conceptualization and clinical presentation.
  2. Prepare a child and adolescent-specific assessment strategy for OCD that includes evidence-based assessment tools.

Presenter

Sara Conley, PhD

Sara Conley, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist, a clinical advisor, and the Senior Manager for Child and Adolescent services at NOCD. Dr. Conley is responsible for training a multidisciplinary international network of mental health providers in the treatment of OCD for children and adolescents. She also provides weekly consultation groups, develops the childhood and adolescent program, and provides direct services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. In addition to OCD, Dr. Conley has experience with anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), and hoarding.

Dr. Conley received specialized training in OCD and related disorders while completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Northern Illinois University and her pre-and-postdoctoral training with Rogers Behavioral Health. She also previously worked in private practice and as a clinical supervisor for a large behavioral health system.

Dr. Conley has published articles on OCD and is currently active in treatment-enhancement research.

NOCD, #1805, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 03/25/2023 - 03/25/2026. Social workers completing this course receive 2 clinical continuing education credits.


PSYCHOLOGISTS

NOCD is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. NOCD maintains responsibility for this program and its content.


COUNSELORS

NOCD has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7212. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. NOCD is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

To access or start a live CE webinar, login to the NOCD Academy.  Click My Dashboard  (located in the header).  Upcoming live CE webinars will be marked as Coming Soon.  This button will change to Start Course approximately 10 minutes before the course start time.  Click Start Course to begin.  Read the welcome message and proceed to the Live Webinar using the Complete & Continue button.


ATTENDANCE, COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATES FOR LIVE CE WEBINARS

To be eligible for CE credit (CE hours), participants must log-in by the scheduled start time, attend the entire live course, and successfully complete any prerequisites (e.g., the evaluation) within 7 days of the live event date.   

NOCD accurately documents attendance for all CE activities.  NOCD will not offer variable credit for partial attendance or participation.  To allow for the best learner experience, late entries to live CE webinars will not be permitted.  If you are having technical issues during a live webinar,  please attempt to rejoin the webinar or email us at [email protected] for assistance.


A link to your digital certificate of completion will be emailed to you within 24 hours of successful course completion. Certificates are downloadable and are also available in your NOCD Academy profile. Include your licensing information in your profile to have it included on your certificate.  


COURSE MATERIALS

Individuals who attend a live CE webinar will have 60 days after the live course date to review course materials (e.g., slides, references, recordings).  Recordings from live CE webinars will be made available to those who attended the live CE webinar in its entirety.  Recordings are typically available within 10 days of an event.

Cancellations for live CE webinar courses conducted in real-time will be refunded 100% if you contact us ([email protected]) before the day of the event.  Same day cancellations will be refunded at 50% of the session fee.  

In the event of error or course cancellation by NOCD, refunds will be offered.
